Invisalign trayIf you have always dreamed of having a straighter smile, but have been turned off by the idea of wearing traditional metal braces, Invisalign® may be a good option for you. This treatment option will provide you with a way to straighten your teeth using a system of clear, removable aligners that can provide the same results of metal braces without dealing with unsightly brackets and wires. Invisalign® has treated more than 250,000 patients since it came onto the market in 1997, and at Cedar Creek Dental, we’re proud to offer this service to our patients.

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign aligners are made out of clear plastic, and they can be removed from the mouth when you eat or drink. This makes it possible to enjoy all of the foods that you love while you are straightening your teeth. A 3D computer system will generate your customized aligners, and this technology can also give you an idea of what your smile will look like once the treatment has been completed. As your teeth begin to move into their desired position, new aligners will be provided to continue the process. Typically, one aligner will be worn for two weeks before you trade it in for the next tray in the set. You’ll continue throughout this process until the entire series has been completed.

What are the benefits of choosing Invisalign®?

There are a variety of great benefits to choosing Invisalign® as the method of straightening your teeth. The most obvious benefits involve the improved aesthetics of this option over traditional metal brackets and wires. Traditional braces are often uncomfortable, and you may need to avoid your favorite foods so that they don’t get stuck in or damage your brackets or wires. With the Invisalign® system, you’ll take your aligners out to eat or drink, so you don’t need to make any changes to your diet.

Your oral health will also be improved with the Invisalign® system. Metal braces come with a high risk of tooth decay and periodontal disease because it is difficult to fully clean the teeth with the brackets and wires in the way. When you brush and floss with Invisalign®, you’ll remove the aligners, so you can make sure that you are completely cleaning your teeth.

How does Invisalign® work?

Invisalign® works similarly to metal braces. Like traditional orthodontic options, aligners will place pressure on the teeth to make them move into a more desirable position. However, the main difference with Invisalign® is that rather than tightening wires periodically, the aligners will be switched out as part of a perfectly timed plan to straighten the teeth. Each aligner in the set will target different teeth and positions until the final results are achieved.

Dr. Rust has been specially trained to provide Invisalign® to her patients, and she is proud to offer cutting edge technology that allows them to avoid the appearance and inconvenience of metal braces. If you have questions about whether you are a candidate for Invisalign®, please call our office to set up a consultation.
